European Data Protection Day

The European Data Protection Day is celebrated on January 28 every year. This is the 14th year that Europe celebrates European Data Protection Day, since 2007, focusing on raising awareness among businesses as well as users about the importance of protecting the privacy of their personal information online, particularly in the context of social networking.

In the new age of technology in a period of digital “alarm” due to the pandemic, more and more users are working remotely, and more users are browsing on cyberspace. The need for the exchange and transfer of information has increased the risks on the internet. The European Cybersecurity Agency (ENISA) on the occasion of the European Data Protection Day aims to inform European citizens and raise awareness about the need to secure personal data in cyberspace. Moreover, ENISA has released a report about pseudonymization for personal data protection – Data Pseudonymisation: Advanced Techniques and Use Cases – providing a technical analysis of cybersecurity measures in personal data protection and privacy.

With cyber-attacks becoming more oriented toward data theft, you can follow a few simple tips to eliminate the risk of personal data and keep your information secure:

  • Do not use the same passwords create different and strong

  • Backup your data
  • Anti-malware protection
  • Don’t store passwords on your laptop or mobile device
  • Use antivirus software
  • The operating system must have the latest updates
