EXPLOIDS - Explicit Privacy-Preserving Host Intrusion Detection System

Date:
01/01/2016 to 31/12/2019

The aim of the EXPLOIDS project is to design and implement a system that detects unknown attacks on computers. For this purpose, new technical methods are developed, which make it possible to collect traces of attack, detect attacks and evaluate them forensically. The attacker should not be able to manipulate the recognition system himself.

To accomplish this, the system continuously collects the necessary data in and through the computer system. Data indicating potential attacks will be anonymized and encrypted during the survey.

A downstream analysis system then automatically scans the data for attack patterns and allows manual forensic investigation of traces for legal use. In each of these steps the privacy is respected.
