SealedGRID, on June 24th, had the privilege to be among 10 EU-funded projects at the online webinar entitled “Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructures – Resilience and trust in the Health and Energy sectors”. The webinar was organized by Cyberwatching.eu and focused on how Europe is addressing the need to effectively protect the Energy and Healthcare infrastructures and divided into two parts.
The first part focused on the Energy sector and the typical threats that plague other industries as well as at the same session they presented certain particularities that require attention. Furthermore, participants mentioned that both geographic distance and organizational complexity make the industry vulnerable to cyberattacks, coupling with unique interdependencies between virtual systems and physical infrastructure.
Christos Fakitsas from the University of Piraeus, on behalf of the SealedGRID project, presented useful insights and tangible solutions in protecting the electrical power, energy systems, and smart grids against cyber-attacks, as well as he suggested feasible solutions in order users to preserve the privacy of the data.
