On 15th June 2017, CIPSEC project has organized its first Workshop in Villanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, Spain. The workshop was focussed on analysing security and quality demands for the particular critical infrastructures scenario.
The workshop “Security vs Quality: A Dilemma for Critical Infrastructures Management”, has been collocated with the IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Quality of Service (IWQoS, http://iwqos2017.ieee-iwqos.org), a well-established conference in the QoS domain, in June 14, 2017.
The full day workshop started with two technical sessions dealing with hardware issues in CI devices attacks and novel security architectures for cloud-fog-edge scenarios respectively, followed by presentations from 4 ongoing EU research projects (mF2C, WISER, Shift2Rail and SMESEC) all active in the areas of security.
The morning slot ended with 1 presentation introducing products and services brought in by the CIPSEC partners along with 7 presentations from CIPSEC project partners introducing existing tools and solutions for security provisioning in different areas. In the afternoon session the workshop organized an interesting panel, included in the main program of the IWQoS conference.
The panel, “Security vs Quality in Critical Infrastructures Management: Searching for a trade-off”, brought together highly esteemed experts in the areas of security and QoS, including Dr. Jian-Ping Wang (City University of Hong-Kong), Admela Jukan (Technical university of Braunschweig), Javier Larrañeta (PESI-Tecnalia), Jorge Cuéllar (Siemens Germany), Rodrigo Diaz (Atos) and Xavi Masip (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya).
