In the current era, emerging technologies and the explosion of enterprise data is becoming an inherent strength enabling more experimentation and faster result which can boost performance and productivity for organisations across Europe. At the same time, Europeans have set high standards for digital privacy and security as the new EU Cybersecurity Act came into force last June 2019.
This month, October, marks the kick-off of the European Cybersecurity Month (ECSM), coordinated by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), the European Commission and supported by the Member States. This campaign will focus on expanding awareness about cybersecurity to citizens across Europe.
Cyberwatching.eu is the European cybersecurity and privacy research and innovation observatory, one of the EU’s Cybersecurity efforts. It contributes to making the Digital Single Market a safer place by promoting the uptake and understanding of cybersecurity and privacy services developed by European R&I initiatives. Cyberwatching.eu features a project hub for innovative and trustworthy ICT products, services and software which offers a unique entry point to information on 150 current and completed projects.
The project is also launching the GDPR Temperature tool aiming to inform and provide awareness under the supervision of the partner law firm ICT Legal Consulting, which was developed as a preliminary step for SMEs to assess their GDPR readiness in terms of the potential “risk exposure to sanctions”.
On Cybersecurity Day in Internet Festival (Pisa) on 11 October, Nicholas Ferguson, Cyberwatching.eu coordinator, will join the panel discussion on "Industry, association and start-ups for cybersecurity" presenting the Cyberwatching.eu project and how it can play a key role in filling the gaps between research and industry thanks to its innovative services.
